Few things in life are more beautiful than a Hawaiian Sunset, so why don’t we make that happen right here at home this weekend? Yes it’s time once again for Nick’s Mix, and the Hawaiian Sunset is your drink of the week!
My goal with this series is to teach you how to make a variety of mixed drinks in your own home using simple recipes. Each month there are four drinks based on a particular spirit. The first month was vodka drinks, the second was tequila and this month we are talking White Rum.
Follow along with the video to make an easy and delicious Hawaiian Sunset, or check the recipe below for reference. This one you can build right in a pint or Hurricane glass…
1 oz. White Rum (Bacardi or the like)
2 oz. Orange Juice (or to taste)
2 oz. 7-up (or any lemon lime soda)
A Dash or Two of Grenadine
In a glass half filled with ice, combine the rum, orange juice and 7-up over the ice. Pour that 7-up carefully so you don’t waste all the fizz.
Save the grenadine for last, and being careful not to use too much, pour it in quickly so it settles at the bottom. Gently stir the grenadine from the bottom into the rest of the ingredients. It should taste like cherry cream soda!
Garnish with your favorite fruit and enjoy (responsibly)!
We have to credit Gordon Mills for that recipe. If you missed any of our previous segments, check them out here!
As always, feel free to explore because variety is the spice of life!
