The stretch of Elm St. in downtown Manchester that was once a jeweler store and a pool hall is getting a much needed upgrade.
According to Union Leader, the developer, Robynne Alexander, plans on turning the 60,000 square foot area into apartments, a diner, fitness center, self-storage, and some office space.
The building(s), once home to Lemay Brothers Jewelers and Raxx Billiards, is now just a dilapidated reminder of the former businesses.
Alexander wants to preserve some of the uniqueness and charm of the jewleer store. She has plans to turn the basement into a speakeasy type bar that utilizes a couple 1940’s safes to hold bottles of alcohol.
It’s nice to see a developer make much needed improvements to the area, not be wasteful with the space, and also hang on to the historical significance of what was once there.
