It really should be everyday IMO, but, you know, for the record, wine is to be celebrated (nationally) just one day a year. Some celebrate it more. Who am I to judge?
Whether you are a serious wine connoisseur; pairing with meals or drinking white in the summer and red in the winter, or you just go knee deep in whatever box is on sale, take it in a beautiful stemmed glass or a coffee mug, we give thanks to grapes today.
Before I continue . . the fine print . .
Please drink responsibly.
I found some fun facts about National Drink Wine Day.
In a survey of 1,000 people, most prefer red over white. Merlot, specifically, being the winner.
16% of Americans don’t know anything about the different types of wine. I know a little something, but I don’t go for the sniff and swirl when given a glass. That’s too much of a tease.
39% of people surveyed think 2 glasses of wine is enough while 6% think a whole bottle seems good. 37% of those people HAVE indulged in a whole bottle at least once before.
9% say that wine gives them the worst hangovers, and 3% of people cry when they drink wine. (probably some of those 37 percenters that drank the whole bottle)
Some say a glass of wine helps you sleep better, or allows you to lose weight, or is even heart healthy.
