Moon rocks! Get your moon rocks here!
That’s right, if you happen to have an extra $1 million around the house, you could be the proud owner of actual moon rocks.
Coming up on November 25th, Sotheby’s will be auctioning moon rocks that were collected by Luna 16, a soviet space probe. They were originally gifted to the widow of the one time director of the Russian space program.
Normally, you wouldn’t be able to buy moon rocks collected by NASA, because they would be considered property of the US government, but since these were a gift to his wife by the Russian space director, they are “personal property” and as such, can be auctioned off.
Sounds like the perfect gift for the person who has everything! Almost.
