On, Tuesday April 9th Governor Chris Sununu joined NH transplant surgeons, the NH DMV, New England Donor Services and individuals personally touched by donation to discuss life-saving organ donation and the important role the state of New Hampshire plays in register donors.
The Governor also officially declared April as Organ Donation Month in New Hampshire and encourages citizens to register as organ and tissue donors.
NH plays an important role in the donation process as the vast majority of individuals in New Hampshire (99%) register to be an organ and tissue donor at the state Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV).
In 2018 over 1159 lives were saved here in New England because of the generosity of individuals who became organ donors. Thousands more lives were enhanced through the gift of tissue donation.
With the need for life-saving transplants growing every day – over 113,600 patients are now on the US transplant wait list – it is crucial to educate our communities about taking action to register as donors.
Join us on Friday at the NH DMV for a follow-up event during Organ Donation Month here in NH.
Gov. Sununu joined Nazzy and Tara from 98.3 LNH to talk about this important endeavor.
