A new restaurant in downtown Keene has caught the eyes of many, including the new city manager for a potentially offensive business name.
The ‘Pho Keene Great’ restaurant is set to open in March but it may need to reassess the sign hanging in the window out front…which happens to be next door to city hall.
According to reports, the city manager reached out to the owner, and informed her that she would need to take down her ‘Coming Soon’ sign because it in violation of the lease and the requirement to get property owner (in this case the city) permission before installing any signage, lettering, posters or window treatments visible from the exterior.
She is leasing a commercial space which is attached to City Hall.
This puts the owner, Isabelle, in a difficult position, seeing as she’s already moved forward with money spent on marketing campaigns using this same name.
She decided to offer her fans an opportunity to voice their opinion on the matter by placing a poll on her Facebook page.
97% of the voters say “Not offensive. It’s fun!” Unfortunately a Facebook poll cannot determine her fate.
Isabelle is scheduled to meet with the city manager to discuss and hopefully resolve the issue.
