Man Plans Elaborate Marriage Proposal On Top of Colorado Mountain, Day Ends in 911 Call

There is nothing nicer when a future groom does all he can to make the proposal to his future bride a very special one. Joshua Manson exemplified that kind of person. He decided that he wanted the perfect location to propose to his girlfriend Katie Davis. So, the two flew from their home in Denton Texas to Denver Colorado to hike up Jasper Peak, which is located on the Continental Divide. And Mason was successful! He found a spot located at a 13,000-foot summit. It was a momentous day. Mason proposed, and Davis accepted. Happily, they headed down the mountain...and that is when the perfect day took a turn for the worse. Mason had not allowed enough time for them to hike back in daylight. He had also forgotten to bring water...something that any experienced hiker will tell you is crucial to any long hike. Other issues were that neither of them knew Jasper Peak and became disoriented and got lost. And to make matters worse, neither of them were equipped for the cold weather that happens when the sun sets. They also didn’t have any kind of shelter for them to use to wait it out until daylight. Fortune did turn for them when a hiker found the couple and took them to friends of his that were camping at Diamond Lake. By this time, Mason and Davis were suffering from altitude sickness and dehydration. One of the campers decided it would be best to hike down the couple to her vehicle. She then drove them to the next town and called 911. Mason and Davis are on the mend now and yes, the engagement is still on! They will forever remember their proposal day and hopefully, they will have a good story to tell anyone who asks them how they got married.
