Addressing 'Bitterness,' 'Polarization' and 'Chaos': 1st District Candidate Sullivan Plans to Listen
Maura Sullivan plans to tap on her experience in the Marines and the Obama Administration to serve New Hampshire. Sullivan is a Democrat running for Congress in New Hampshire's 1st District.
"I love our country. I put my life on the line for our country. I see people hurting and I see a country at risk so I really didn't hesitate to step up and run."
Sullivan sat down with NH1.com on Wednesday to talk about what more is needed to help our veterans and hiking in New Hampshire's White Mountains as well as addressing those critical of where her campaign money is coming and how she will fight for the Granite State.
"I'm really proud that the people I served alongside in the Marines and the Obama Administration think that I'd be a good member of Congress. What I would be focused on in Congress is the same way I approached my job in the Marines. The most important thing I learned about leadership in the Marines is to listen. And that's how I've approached my campaign.
"I've been out listening to people throughout our state, and what I'm hearing from people is that people want to restore integrity and leadership and government. These attacks on democracy are troubling. That this bitterness, this polarization and chaos in our politics is not who we are as a country."
