Woman scores free flight to Florida in airline contest
PORTSMOUTH - A Seabrook woman scored a free flight to Florida thanks to a contest held by Allegiant Air.
The airline, which services Portsmouth International Airport at Pease, offered the giveaway after announcing they would now be offering flights to Ft. Lauderdale.
Participants were asked to show up wearing "tacky tourist" outfits, with bags packed, in order to win.
Names were then entered into a hat and drawn at random.
“A little vacation. We’re on the hunt for anything exciting," said Sarah Morrill, just minutes before an Allegiant representative picked her name from the hat.
Morrill also brought a friend along with her for the trip.
But as the two grabbed their bags, the airline surprised everyone else that had hoped to win by giving them all seats on the plane.
In total, 6 people scored free tickets.
“I’ve only gone to Florida once before," said Cecile-Marie Underwood, who decided to skip a college class to take a chance at winning. "It was in 2007, and I really don’t have the money to do anything really fun so I’m like – hey, if I can do it – why not?”
