Woman carried down Mount Monadnock after ranger finds her in distress
JAFFREY — A woman had to be carried down Mount Monadnock Saturday after a Monadnock State Park Mountain Patrol Ranger discovered her in distress.
N.H. Fish and Game said Heather Zarozinski, 30 of Gardner, Massachusetts, was ascending the mountain and almost to the summit when she began experiencing lower leg pain. A Monadnock State Park Mountain Patrol Ranger came across her at about 4:45 p.m. and called for assistance.
Officers said that because of her condition Zarozinski had to be carried down by DRED Mountain Patrol Rangers, Upper Valley Wilderness Search and Rescue, NH Fish and Game Conservation Officers and volunteers.
Conservation Officers reminded anyone who ventures outdoors to know your physical limitations, prepare for the unexpected by leaving adequate time to hike and carry the essential equipment such as flashlights, food, water, extra layers.
