'We haven't forgotten you Crystal': NH Police's Missed Connection Goes Viral
MARLBOROUGH – Marlborough police took to Facebook with a "Missed Connections Monday!" after a woman missed her court date.
In case you don’t know … Missed Connections is an advertisement usually online or in a newspaper for people who met, but were unable to share contact information.
Police set the scene.
“It was a warm April evening,” police wrote. “You drove a tan Ford Explorer. I was wearing my favorite blue polyester suit. Neither of us knew it at that particular moment, but fate or poor driving would soon bring us to meet for the first and last time. Blowing through a stop sign and not using your turn signal gave me a great excuse to strike up a conversation. The perfect icebreaker.”
Police go on to describe the interaction with 31-year-old Crystal A. Steiner.
“Imagine my disappointment to learn your driving privileges were suspended and you had a bench warrant for failure to appear in court for a hit and run (bummer),” the post reads. “I wanted to give you a second chance at a first impression so you were released on bail like a butterfly into a gentle spring breeze. We agreed we would meet again in the month of June at the Keene Circuit Court. But, alas, it was not meant to be.”
The broken-hearted officer wrote he felt betrayed by Steiner when she didn’t show up for court. However, he is still hopeful they will meet again.
“I want you to know we haven't forgotten you Crystal,” he wrote. “We are still here waiting. I know you are a good person at heart, but skipping court gives off the wrong impression. Let's fix that together."
This officer turned to the public for help.
“If you're reading this and aren't my missed connection, you can still help me get this old warrant off my desk,” he wrote. “Hit ‘Share’ and be part of something big. Do it for Crystal's conscience. Do it for justice. Do it to get me that much closer to the deluxe Cuisinart Four-Slice Toaster Oven. I'm only three arrests away from winning. It's stainless steel people. #BringCrystalHome #ToastForEveryone”
