Urn Donated to NH Salvation Army will be Returned to Family After No Remains Found Inside
PORTSMOUTH — A recent donation of an urn to the Salvation Army in Portsmouth is being safely returned to its family after they determined it did not have remains inside.
On Oct. 23, reports claimed an urn containing ashes was donated to the thrift store on Route 1 in Portsmouth.
Although it did not contain remains, the urn was mistakenly donated along with other items.
“We’re grateful for the donations from this family and are glad the urn is back where it belongs,” said Major Ron Bernardi, administrator of The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center in Portland, Maine, which oversees the store in Portsmouth.
At the family’s request, the urn has been given to Portsmouth police, who are making arrangements for its safe return. The family has asked for their privacy to be respected.
