'We are focused on the victims today': Governor Sununu reacts to shooting in VA
CONCORD — Gov. Chris Sununu says focus right now is on the victims in this "senseless acts of violence" after a top House Republican, Steve Scalise of Louisiana, and several other people were shot Wednesday.
The people were shot at a congressional baseball practice just outside of Washington, officials said. Several other people were also believed to have been hit, according to a lawmaker who witnessed the shooting.
"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims. We're praying for their speedy recovery," Sununu said during the 242nd birthday celebration for the Army.
As far as extra precautions we should take at home, Sununu says, "It's concerning all around and you always want to take extra precautions. It's a reminder of the world we live in - not just us in public service but all of us in our communities and in our homes. We have to take precautions and stay vigilant about our surroundings."
