Good Samaritans Save NH Man, Passenger Trapped in Fiery Crash
VERNON, Vt. (AP) — Police in Vermont are thanking a group of Good Samaritans for rescuing two men from a fiery crash.
The Brattleboro Reformer reports the crash occurred Friday in Vernon. Police say a truck travelling on state Route 142 left the road, struck a tree and burst into flames.
Police say several people helped pull the two men inside the burning truck to safety. A sheriff's deputy used a fire extinguisher to aid in the rescue before other first responders arrived.
The driver and his passenger were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver, identified as 25-year-old Christopher Lessard, of Claremont, New Hampshire, has been cited with driving under the influence, gross negligent operation, and reckless endangerment. It wasn't immediately known if he had a lawyer, and a number couldn't be found for him.
