UPDATE: Parents want to move on after Windham coach fired for 'no reason'
WINDHAM - Former Windham Varsity Baseball Coach Jason Matthews has watched the past two games from the other side of the fence after being fired for "no reason" Monday.
Matthews told NH1 News this came as a shock, and he's still looking for more answers.
"I'm baffled just like everyone else," he said. "I would like to know why, I've asked why. I'd love to be told a reason, if there was a reason it'd be easier. Just being told there's no reason or, 'We're not going to tell you a reason,' is pretty tough to swallow."
The school does not need to provide a reason for the firing as Matthews was an employee-at-will.
Before he was fired, the team was 10-1 this season and won the state championship last year.
Parents at Wednesday's game at Souhegan did not want to speak on camera or give their names.
Some told NH1 News they have an idea of why he was fired and say he has been suspended in the past.
Others say they want this story to go away so their kids can focus on playing baseball without any distractions.
NH1 News reached out to the Superintendent's office, but calls were not returned.
