UNH Law School, Sports Illustrated host sports law panel
CONCORD - In recent years, professional sports leagues have been plagued by controversy.
These topics were the focus of a panel discussion at the University of New Hampshire Law School in Concord. The school hosted the event with Sports Illustrated.
The panel, called "Justice or Kangaroo Court?" takes a close look at personal conduct and fair play policies in professional sports leagues. They spent a lot of time talking about the Ray Rice scandal.
Video surfaced of Rice striking his then-girlfriend in an elevator, knocking her out. She didn't press charges. Rice originally got a 2-game suspension, but once the video went public, the NFL suspended him indefinitely.
Panel members disagreed whether or not an average person would get a more severe punishment.
