Steinhauser: Sununu's son steals spotlight
CONCORD – Chris Sununu was supposed to be the star. But his son briefly stole the show.
The three-term Republican Executive Counselor was surrounded by wife Valerie, two of his three children, friends and supporters as he filed his candidacy for governor Wednesday at the State House. Standing right next to Sununu as he signed his paperwork and later as he took questions from reporters was his youngest child, three-year old Leo.
At one point, as Sununu was signing his address on the filing form, Leo was asked “where do you live?”
The boy answered “at the fire station,” which elicited laughter from almost everyone in the jam packed Secretary of State’s office.
Sununu’s the son of former New Hampshire Gov. John H. Sununu.
Asked by NH1 News if his father would be joining him on the gubernatorial campaign trail, Sununu said “I’m running my race. He’s supportive although I don’t take anyone’s vote for granted. You gotta earn every one. That’s one thing you lean in New Hampshire.”
