Small Business Saturday gains popularity in 2016
The numbers are in and Small Business Saturday was a hit.
The National Federation of Independent Business said support for local businesses hit record highs with 72 percent of consumers being aware of the day.
This year, an estimated 112 million consumers reported shopping at a small business, marking a 13 percent increase from 2015.
Last year, according to the post-holiday survey released by NFIB and American Express, 95 million Americans reported shopping at small businesses.
NFIB and American Express have collaborated on Small Business Saturday since 2010.
