Seaplane takes on water at NH lake, booms set up to prevent fuel from leaking
SUNAPEE, N.H. (AP) — Crews have stabilized a seaplane that began taking on water in New Hampshire's Lake Sunapee.
WMUR-TV reports a Chicago man flew the plane to the lake to spend the Fourth of July weekend with his family. They were about to head out to dinner Tuesday when they saw the plane, moored just about 50 feet from shore, was taking on water.
The owner told authorities that one of the floats had a leak in it. Booms were set around the craft to prevent any fuel or oil leaking into the lake. Plans were to have it towed to Sunapee Harbor for inspection.
