Race weekend weather: Cool, wet to start, then hot and humid
LOUDON - Race weekend is almost here, and it appears the weather will be all over the place.
For fans arriving Friday, expect lots of clouds and cool weather with occasional rain. Temperatures may only be in the 60s for highs.
Saturday will be a transition day with a mix of clouds and sunshine. A shower or thunderstorm is possible, but most of the day should be dry. It will start to warm up again, with highs nearing the 80 degree mark if there is enough sunshine.
Even warmer and more humid air is expected to arrive on Sunday. The big race gets started at 3 p.m. and temperatures may be closing in on the 90 degree mark. It will begin to feel sticky with higher humidity on Sunday. A late-day shower or thunderstorm can't be ruled out, but there should be plenty of sun and dry weather.
