Potential great white sighting on Cape Cod as plans develop to monitor sharks
A video taking by a ranger in Wellfleet is being examined to determine whether a great white shark was swimming just off shore over the week.
Cape Cod National Seashore Supervisory Ranger Timothy Morrison captured what appears to be a shark fin poking out of the water on May 6, according to the Cape Cod Times.
This comes as towns in the area are weighing options for new technological solutions aimed at monitoring sharks that have frequented the New England area's beaches in recent years ahead of tourist season.
According to the Cape Cod Times, several companies have pitched solutions to monitoring sharks that may, or may not, head close to beaches this year.
Buoys and balloons are being looked at as potential tools to catch great white sharks that may visit as waters warm this summer.
