Kick-Ass Celebration of Life Planned For Seacoast Rock 'n' Roll Legend
Jeff Bibbo, co-founder and lead vocalist for the popular Seacoast band Groovechild, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Feb. 24. He was 45 years old.
There will not be any formal service though the public is invited to join fellow fans, friends and family for a “Celebration of Jeff’s Life” at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 4, at The Stone Church in Newmarket.
Groovechild had a great run of popularity in the '80s and '90s selling out venues all over New England after releasing their critically acclaimed debut album “Sick At Last” in 1992.
The band has been playing occasionally over the years and were in the process of recording a new album at the time of Bibbo’s death.
Groovechild co-founder and lead guitarist Bryan Killough said the gathering will be a chance to honor Bibbo’s memory by sharing stories and music.
The Stone Church will be open Sunday as usual with full restaurant and bar services. The event will run from 3-7 p.m. followed by an open mic jam hosted by Dave Ogden. The open mic will continue the celebration of life featuring the songs of Bibbo and Groovechild.
The Stone Church is at 5 Granite St., Newmarket.
