Police: Logging truck boom crashes into bridge, sign on NH turnpike
DOVER — A logging truck with an improperly secured boom led to a lane closure on the Spaulding Turnpike on Saturday.
Eric Corliss, 45, of Barnstead had been driving a 1990 International logging truck with a boom between the areas of Exit 7 and 8 around 12:10 p.m. when the boom struck a bridge and sign on an overpass, police said.
State Police responded to the scene and found that the boom had not been fully secured to the truck, which is why it hit the overpass, police said.
The right lane in that area was closed for several hours to remove the boom, debris and sign and to allow New Hampshire Department of Transportation workers to inspect the bridge.
Anyone with information about this crash is asked to contact Trooper First Class Timothy Sawyer New Hampshire State Police, Troop-A Barracks at (603) 223-8490.
