Police are warning NH residents to be on the lookout for scam phone calls
LEBANON — The Lebanon Police Department is warning residents and business owners to be on the lookout for suspicious scam phone calls.
In a recent press release, police from Lebanon announced that they have received several complaints over the last few weeks from local business owners reporting they have been contacted by someone claiming to be from Liberty Utilities.
The alleged caller told businesses that their power would be shut off unless they made immediate payments.
Police also reported that one business was directed to purchase "Green Dot" prepaid debit cards and to provide PINs to make the payment.
An ongoing investigation by police has confirmed that these phone calls are a scam. Police are asking that if you receive one of these phone calls, to call both the Lebanon Police and your own utility company.
