Police: 19-year-old NH man struck 15-year-old with pipe, punched 12-year-old
MANCHESTER — A 19-year-old man was arrested Wednesday after police said he knocked a 15-year-old off his bike with a pipe and punched a 12-year-old boy several times.
Officers responded to the area of Notre Dame Avenue and Conant Street around 5:05 p.m. for a report of an assault with a deadly weapon.
An officer spoke with Michael Leard, 19, in front of 6 Notre Dame Ave. and asked about the assault involving minors in the neighborhood. Another officer spoke with the two alleged victims in front of 102 S. Main St., who claimed they had been assaulted by Leard before police arrived.
Police said a 15-year-old male and several witnesses told officers he was hit with a pipe and knocked off of his bicycle. The blow to his arm shattered his watch and caused minor injury, and his mother responded to the area but declined medical attention for her son.
Police said a 12-year-old male also reported being punched several times by Leard and sustaining minor injuries. His mother also responded to the scene and declined further treatment for her son.
Multiple witnesses corroborated the series of events, so police arrested Leard and charged him with second-degree assault, simple assault, criminal mischief and violation of bail.
He was scheduled to appear in Manchester district court Thursday.
