NH1's Pats-Ravens breakdown proves pretty prophetic
Just saying, check out NH1's pre-game breakdown of the Pats and Ravens game Friday night and note the predictions from NH1 Radio Director Jeff Wade and Chief Political Correspondent Kevin Landrigan that came to pass. (Video above)
We had Pats winning by a field goal; they won by four.
We predicted strong games by both quarterbacks, Joe Flacco and Tom Brady who between them passed or ran for seven touchdowns.
Jeff Wade singled out Brendan LaFell and Julian Edelman for fantasy standout games and both scored touchdowns, LaFell the winning score, Edelman passing the trick play TD to Danny Amendola.
Here's the banter from last week:
PAUL MUELLER: The New England Patriots against the Baltimore Ravens, they've got a lot of history, good and bad for both. NH1's two resident, fantasy football fanatics, Jeff Wade and Kevin Landrigan, break down the key matchups for Saturday's game.
JEFF WADE: This does feel like a divisional game; it's the eighth time these two have gone head to head since 2009. There's been a ban on trash talk in both locker rooms but there's plenty of ill will to go around.
KEVIN LANDRIGAN: Let's start with the battle at coach. John Harbaugh with the Ravens is a Super Bowl winner, his team on a roll having won six of eight. But, sorry, I'm not going to bet against in Bill We Trust, especially with a 10-3 record after a bye including the 23-20 playoff win over the Ravens four years ago.
JEFF: The marquee position, quarterback and this is closer than New England is used to. Tom Brady is 18-8 in playoff games, the ultimate, big play QB. But Joe Flacco has 10 playoff wins and a record seven on the road. We give the check to both and in daily fantasy, Joe Flacco might be a cheap option to help you score big points.
KEVIN: Defensive line in the trenches and this one isn't close. The Ravens are second in the NFL in sacks, Elvis Dummervill and Terrell Suggs are game wreckers.
JEFF: Likewise, the secondary is a slam dunk too, this one for New England. The Pats have the top cover corner in Derrell Revis, Brandon Browner has brought back some swagger and the Ravens have had 19 players on injured reserve. What's that mean? Guys like Julian Edelman and Brandon LaFell could be good daily fantasy options at a reasonable price.
KEVIN: Let's look at tight end. Rob Gronkowski is a matchup nightmare. Two players have trouble covering him and he is going to be Brady's warm and fuzzy target.
JEFF: We finish with the X factor and this one goes to the Ravens. They could be the only team not intimidated to go into Gillette Stadium. Flacco and Harbaugh are 2-1 against the Pats in Foxboro; the rest of the playoff teams in the mix are 1-11.
You get the idea. All of New England is rooting for the Pats but this one could come down to a field goal. Go to NH1.com on Facebook and give us your breakdown.
