NH man pleads guilty to possession and sale of a protected migratory bird
CONCORD — A Dover man pleaded guilty for illegally possessing and selling a protected bird of prey on Tuesday.
U.S. Attorney Emily Gray Rice announced that Jeremiah S. Loui pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of illegally possessing and selling a bird of prey protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act.
According to court documents, Loui sold a taxidermied Northern Goshawk online. He also sold or possessed 14 other taxidermied birds of prey that were protected under the MBTA or the Wild Bird Conservation Act.
Loui is scheduled to be sentenced on May 9, and he will be subjected to a statutory maximum sentence of six months imprisonment, a fine of up to $15,000 or both.
