NH father indicted with 2nd-degree murder of 3-year-old daughter
CONCORD — A New Hampshire man is being indicted on counts of second-degree murder and manslaughter for the death of his 3-year-old daughter early last year.
In March 2016, Jayleah Bureau was found unresponsive in her home. After being transported to the hospital, doctors determined that her cause of death to be blunt force trauma to her abdomen.
Jayleah's father, Jocarl Bureau, 23, was with her at the time of her death and has since been charged and now indicted with one count of second-degree murder and one count of manslaughter.
According to court documents, Bureau "manifested exceptional cruelty or depravity" on his daughter, as well as not seeking medical attention right away and lying to medical personnel about the nature of Jayleah's injuries.
This isn't Bureau's first run-in with the law. He currently has two other pending cases in Merrimack County Superior Court. If convicted, the second-degree murder charge could carry a life sentence.
