NH-based Stonyfield put up for sale as parent company tries to close on WhiteWaves deal
Danone, the parent company of Stonyfield Farm Inc., has announced that it is selling the Londonderry-based yogurt manufacturing company in order to acquire WhiteWaves Foods company.
The multi-national corporation headquartered in Paris, announced the decision in a press release sent out March 31.
In order to close on the acquisition of WhiteWaves, Danone decided to sell one of it's U.S. dairy subsidiaries, Stonyfield, in agreement with the Antitrust Division of the United States Department of Justice.
Emmanuel FABER, chief executive officer of Danone, said in part: "We are committed to finding the right partner to support Stonyfield growth journey in the future. In doing so we will attract more competition and capital into the U.S. organic segment, creating an opportunity for it to grow even faster.”
Its not yet clear how the sale could impact jobs and operations in New Hampshire.
A spokeswoman for Stonyfield Farms told NH1 News that their mission at Stonyfield remains the same for the time being.
