Woman Charged After Recklessly Crashing into Tree in Rochester, Police Say
ROCHESTER — Police said a woman crashed into a tree Thursday morning when she recklessly attempted to pass another vehicle before driving off the road.
Rochester and Dover Police and Fire responded to Blackwater Road with Frisbie EMS just before 10 a.m. after receiving reports of a motor vehicle crash.
Samantha Norton, 30, of Somersworth, was driving a 2008 Volkswagen Passat and traveling southeast. When Norton attempted to pass another vehicle going in the same direction, she drove off the road at a corner and hit a tree, fence and rock, police said.
Norton and an adult passenger in the Volkswagen were transported by EMS to Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover for injuries sustained during the crash. Both were wearing seatbelts at the time.
Norton was charged with operating after suspension, operating an unregistered motor vehicle and reckless operation. She was released on a summons to appear in Rochester district court Jan. 22.
There was extensive damage to the vehicle, which had to be towed from the scene.
