The Latest to Weigh In on Gender Identity Therapy? NH Education Commissioner's Wife
CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — The wife of New Hampshire's education commissioner has sent an email to all state representatives urging them to oppose a bill that would ban therapy seeking to change a minor's sexual orientation or gender identity.
Kathy Edelblut — wife of Education Commissioner Frank Edelblut — sent an email Monday urging state representatives to oppose a bill that would ban conversion therapy. New Hampshire Public Radio reports the email argues the bill would interfere with clinical relationships and undermine parental rights.
Bill sponsor Democratic state Rep. Ed Butler says Edelblut is wrong and poorly educated on the issue.
The bill to ban conversion therapy was voted down last month by a single vote, but a parliamentary maneuver may allow it to have another vote this session.
