No. 2: Tricks No Treats as Storm Hits Before Halloween
When it comes to weather, NH1’s No. 2 story of the year is the Oct. 30 storm that knocked out power to thousands.
At the height of the storm, more than 450,000 resident lost power, making it the fourth-largest outage in New Hampshire history.
The storm also caused massive flooding and major trail damage in the White Mountains.
State emergency management officials said it caused in excess of $14.2 million in estimated damages. In November, Gov. Chris Sununu requested a major disaster declaration and federal emergency assistance for Belknap, Carroll, Coos, Grafton, and Sullivan counties.
