NH Teen Crashes Car, Arrested on Drug Charges Following Police Chase
HUDSON- A Hudson teenager was arrested on reckless driving and drug charges after a police chase through town Monday evening.
Officer Cody Lambert was on a different traffic stop on Robinson Road saw a Ford Focus pass him going in the opposite direction at a high rate of speed. When Lambert turned around and began to pursue the car with his lights and siren on, the driver, later identified as Zackary Balcom, 18, of Hudson, increased speed and tried to flee.
Balcom ended up on Route 111, also known as Central Street, increasing speed even further according to police as he approached Park Avenue. Lambert lost sight of Balcom but shortly after arrived at the scene of an accident at the intersection of Central Street and Clement Road.
Lambert saw that one of the vehicles in the crash was Balcom's Ford Focus, which had rear-ended a 2016 Chevy Malibu driven by Ali Murphy, 32, of Derry.
Neither Balcom or Murphy were injured in the wreck.
Police took Balcom into custody at the scene and he was charged with disobeying an officer, reckless conduct, reckless driving, marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on $10,000 personal recognizance bail and has a date to appear in Nashua District Court on January 11.
