Taking the Plunge: NH Governor Joins Granite Staters Jumping Into Icy Ocean Water
HAMPTON BEACH — New Hampshire residents braved the icy waters of Hampton Beach, including Governor Chris Sununu, all for a good cause.
Hundreds ran into the water at Hampton Beach Saturday and Sunday for the 19th annual Penguin Plunge to benefit Special Olympics New Hampshire. The money raised benefits the more than 3,000 Special Olympic athletes in the state.
According to the 2018 Penguin Plunge Firstgiving page, the event has raised more than $318,000 in online donations. The Associated Press has reported the event in total has raised close to $522,000.
