New England town temporarily closes road for salamander migration
AYER, Mass. — Two roads in this New England town were closed Tuesday evening heading into Wednesday for an out-of-the-ordinary reason.
The Ayer Police Department said in a Facebook post that MacPherson Road and Bishop Road would be closed to allow salamanders to cross the road during their annual migration.
Police said they expect the roads to remain closed through the Wednesday morning commute, and advised commuters to plan accordingly.
