New England man sentenced for heroin distribution in Backpage.com prostitution scheme
RUTLAND — A Rutland has been sentenced to three years in prison for a prostitution scheme that involved the distribution of heroin.
Kevin Williams, a.k.a. "Capone" or "Cap", 44, of Rutland, Vermont, was arrested on Feb. 16, 2016, for distributing heroin in the Rutland area in October 2015. He pleaded guilty to the charges.
Williams is originally from Bronx, New York, and had recently moved to the Rutland area.
During the sentencing, evidence was presented that Williams organized a prostitution ring using three women who were paid with heroin. A 19-year-old victim testified that in June 2015 she bought heroin from Williams and helped him deliver heroin and crack in exchange for heroin. The victim also said she was given heroin for sex with Williams on multiple occasions.
Williams used Backpage.com to advertise the women and kept the cash the women earned.
Williams was sentenced to three years in prison followed by three years of supervised release. The maximum possible sentence was 20 years.
