Neighbors think old home could be to blame in Nashua fire
NASHUA - A fatal fire Sunday night raised some eyebrows in a local neighborhood.
Neighbors say the older homes in the neighborhood have always been a concern.
"They are built with one way in and one way out, not with the safety and fire escapes like homes today," said Priscilla Chaires, a neighbor who has lived off of Girouard Avenue all her life.
Several people - including some children - were injured, and an adult woman died in the fire.
"My fianceé use to live there, and she never felt totally safe," said Robert Anderson, a former tenant. "Her unit was the apartment tacked on there, and you always wonder - I guess - how carefully was it all done."
The fire marshal's office has not yet released a cause of the name of the deceased, and the fire remains under investigation.
