Nashua man dies of multiple stab wounds
NASHUA - Police and the New Hampshire Attorney General's office are investigating a homicide that left a city man dead of multiple stab wounds.
The Nashua Police Department responded to reports of an injured man who appeared to be injured in the area of Palm Street about 11:17 p.m. Thursday.
That male, 49-year-old Benjamin Marcum was taken to the hospital where he was later declared dead.
Neighbors are in shock.
"It just caught me off guard, caught all of us off guard," said neighbor Richard Alleyne.
Officials blocked roads Friday, bringing in police K-9's and tracking down nearby surveillance footage that could help solve the crime.
"It's a little bit more than scary when its about 10 feet away from the house here," another neighbor, Chez Perez, said.
Allenye watched investigators comb the area. He's been Marcum's neighbor for four years.
"No one deserves this," Allenye said. "He was a good guy."
Neighbors said the bike path where Marcum was found is a trouble spot.
"Just kind of strange seeing Ben out here late at night because we've had issues over there the past summer," Allenye said.
Perez pointing out that in a few weeks, there will be a lot of people in the area.
"It's pretty scary when it hits this close to home, the bike trail. Just figure in a couple weeks there's gonna be filled up with all kinds of kids and little guys."
Investigators said Marcum was known in the area and they are hopeful someone may have seen him Thursday night.
Anyone who heard or saw anything last night is being asked to call the Nashua police at (603) 594-3500.
