More weapons being seized at airports
You've probably been inconvenienced a time or two by some airport travel restrictions- things like liquids, gels, and creams can't be over 3.4 ounces. Inconvenience or not, we all know the drill by now. But when it comes to the most serious restrictions, it's shocking how many people aren't obeying the rules.
TSA officials are seizing weapons across the nation. An average of six firearms a day are found in carry-on bags or on passengers bodies. A record 2,212 firearms were seized in 2014. That's a 22% increase over 2013. More than 80% of those guns were loaded.
An additional 1400 dangerous objects were seized last year including stun guns, knives, swords, razors and firearm components. Throwing knives and throwing stars, and even hand grenades are being confiscated at airport screening.
Last year at Manchester Airport three weapons were seized. Six weapons were confiscated at Logan Airport.
The airport with the most firearms seized in the nation is Dallas-Fort Worth Airport in Texas, with 120 firearms seized.
