Landlord refunds security deposit, June rent to surviving victims of deadly 4-alarm fire
MANCHESTER — The landlord of the apartment complex that was the scene of a deadly 4-alarm fire on Monday has decided to refund all the surviving tenants' security deposits and June rent.
One of the refunds took place while a mom was meeting with a housing counselor at The Way Home, the Union Leader reported. The Way Home helps low-income people with security deposits. The mom answered her phone and came back in tears with $1,600 for her deposit and June rent.
Joshua Harrison, 33, Ailene Moody, 39, Joshua Harrison, 10, and Jay Michael Garon, 8, all died in the fire. They lived together in one of the units.
The community has rallied around the family and there will be a candlelight vigil and memorial walk on Friday at 7 p.m. beginning at the Roca Kidz clubhouse.
The cause of the fire is still unknown at this time.
