Laconia Firefighters dealt with very busy Fourth of July weekend
LACONIA — Between Friday and Tuesday night, Laconia Firefighters responded to nearly 100 incidents, averaging more than 20 calls a day.
Last year, the department had only 76 calls during the same time span.
Although there was five building fires and one vehicle fire, most of the calls did not involve fighting fires, but rather medical emergencies and overdoses.
Firefighters in Laconia dealt with 10 Status-1 or -2 medical emergencies and two sudden deaths. Six of the medical emergencies were overdoses, including two that occurred at the same time on the same day in the same building.
There was also two emergencies on the lake, but the department said that was low considering the amount of traffic and activity on the water over the weekend.
