Heavier rain coming to NH Thursday night, Friday morning
Showers continue to move through New Hampshire this afternoon and evening, but a heavier rain will develop overnight.
A large low pressure system will continue to move north and east overnight. This center of the storm will move right over southern New England, spreading heavy rain north into New Hampshire.
The heaviest rain will fall after midnight Thursday night into early Friday morning. A few rumbles of thunder can't be ruled out as the heaviest rain comes through, especially in southern New England.
In addition to the rain, winds will continue to be gusty out of the east and northeast.
Widespread heavy rainfall will begin to wind down during Friday morning as the low begins to move offshore. However, clouds and showers will continue into the afternoon. It will be a chilly and dreary day with highs only in the 50s in most places.
Most of the region will see 1 to 1.5 inches of rain. Some spots in southern New Hampshire could approach 2 inches. Because this is a long-duration event, any flooding issues should be limited to poor drainage areas during the heavier rain.
