Disgruntled Maine man takes out anger on city workers using bed bugs
AUGUSTA — A disgruntled Maine resident takes out his anger on municipal employee's using bed bugs.
Friday afternoon, The Portland Press Herald reported on an incident at Maine's City Center that closed the entire building for the duration of the weekend.
Reportedly, the Maine man had whipped out his cup of bed bugs earlier in front of a manager at his new apartment building on Water Street. The manager told him he couldn’t live there and asked him to leave immediately. The incident prompted the unidentified man to take his cup of bugs to the City Center.
The man then came into the General Assistance office where he asked for a form requesting housing assistance, but was told by city staff that he did not qualify.
Sources say, “He whipped out a cup (full of live bedbugs), and slammed it on the counter and bam, off they flew, maybe 100 of them."
Immediate measures were taken to control the bed bug problem, but to be sure, city officials closed the building until Monday.
A bedbug detector dog service is expected to come to the building Monday morning to look for bugs. If it doesn’t find any, the building will be opened to the public as usual.
