'Zero Tolerance': Alleged Drunk County Attorney Who Hit Parked Car Resigns
MANCHESTER - The Rockingham County Attorney's office says Assistant County Attorney Alexander Gatzoulis has resigned from his position after he was arrested early Saturday morning in Manchester for driving while intoxicated.
According to reports, Gatzoulis, 36, allegedly slammed his Cadillac into a parked car at the intersection of Lowell and Ashland Streets. No one was injured but the car Gatzoulis' hit was moderately damaged.
A press release from the Rockingham County Attorney's office says Gatzoulis resigned from his position on Sunday. "Although Attorney Gatzoulis is innocent until proven guilty, prosecutors are in a position of public trust. When a prosecutor is arrested for any criminal offense, the public’s level of trust is diminished in the prosecutor’s ability to make tough judgement calls in the office and in the courtroom," the release reads. "As a result, the Rockingham County Attorney’s Office has a zero tolerance policy when it comes to behavior that leads to arrest."
Gatzoulis is expected in court on December 14.
