Suspect's Footprints in the Snow Lead Rochester Police Right to Him
ROCHESTER — A foot pursuit through a swamp led to the arrest of a New Durham man on drunken driving and other charges.
Emergency crews responded Monday evening to Rochester Hill Road in the area of Profile Apartments for a single-vehicle crash and found a 2006 Infinity G35 that had gone off the roadway and hit a utility pole.
The driver of the vehicle was not on scene and witnesses said he had started on foot toward Somersworth. An officer on scene found footprints in the fresh snow leading away from the scene. The officer followed the tracks into Somersworth, and with the assistance of the Somersworth police and other Rochester officers, caught up to the suspect.
The suspect, identified as 32-year-old John McGlone, led the officers on a brief foot pursuit through the swampy area between Whitehouse Road and Interstate Drive in Somersworth before they caught him, police said.
He is charged with conduct after an accident, driving while intoxicated, resisting arrest or detention and operating without a valid license and unregistered vehicle. Bail was set at $2,000 personal recognizance and $1,500 cash. He is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday.
Anyone with any information regarding this collision is asked to contact Officer Brittney Marvin of the Rochester Police Department at 603-330-7128.
