Sober Lesson: Massachusetts Man Faces 7th Drunken Driving Charge
CHELMSFORD — Officers arrested a man over the weekend on his seventh OUI charge after his car collided with a utility pole.
Around 10 a.m. Friday, Chelmsford police responded to reports that a 1980 red Chevrolet Corvette crashed into a mailbox and utility pole near 181 Concord Road.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with the driver identified as Francis Harrison, 59, of Chelmsford who sustained minor injuries from the crash.
Authorities say Harrison was transported by ambulance to Lowell General Hospital where he refused a blood test.
Police reported that the utility pole was snapped at its base and the vehicle sustained heavy damage.
Harrison faces OUI charges for the seventh time as well as driving negligently so as to endanger, speeding, seatbelt violation and marked lanes violation.
The Registry of Motor Vehicles was notified about the incident and Harrison's license was suspended and confiscated at the scene.
