Purse Snatcher Captured on Video Tossing 76-Year-Old Woman to Ground
MANCHESTER — A man threw a woman returning to her vehicle after breakfast to the ground and took her purse Sunday morning.
At 8:30 a.m. police responded to the intersection of Massabessic and Spruce streets for a report of a robbery.
A 76-year-old woman said she ate breakfast at Pindos, and when she was walking north on Massabessic Street back to her vehicle, she moved against a building to let a man walking in the opposite direction pass.
When the man got close to her, he grabbed her black purse and ripped it out of her hands, tossing her to the ground where she hit the back of her head and her knee on the sidewalk, police said.
The man is described as a younger white male in his late 20s to early 30s wearing dark baggy jeans, a black hooded sweatshirt with a red shirt over it and a white logo on the front. He was last seen running toward Spruce Street. The victim tried to chase him but lost sight of him near Belmont Street. She told police shortly after she lost sight of him, a gray station wagon pulled onto Massabessic Street from Belmont Street heading south. It's unknown if the vehicle is related to the theft.
The woman had identification, credit cards, a cellphone and cash in her purse.
