Manchester Police Arrest a Bedford Man After Chase, Crash With Cruiser
Manchester police arrested a Bedford man who fled a traffic stop and later crashed his car into a police cruiser when he was found hiding behind a Queen City hotel.
Lt. Joe Mucci was on a DWI patrol when he saw a speeding car near Pleasant Street and Elm Street shortly after midnight early Thursday morning.
When Mucci pulled the car over, the driver, later identified as Stephen Lesassier, 30, of Bedford, drove off east on Central Street at a high rate of speed.
Lt. Mucci followed Lesassier in a "low-speed pursuit" according to information provided by the department, but he lost sight of him near Hanover Street and Chestnut Street. Mucci eventually spotted Lesassier in a parking lot of the Radisson Hotel.
When Lesassier tried to drive off again, he struck Mucci's cruiser. Police say Lesassier got out of his vehicle and tried to take off on foot.
Lt. Mucci and other responding officers apprehended Lesassier. He was arrested and charged with disobeying a police officer, reckless conduct, resisting arrest, conduct after an accident and criminal mischief.
Police had no information on Lesassier's bail or court date.
