Here I Am! Manchester Cop Rear-Ended by Drunken Driver During DWI Patrol
MANCHESTER — A Manchester officer assigned to catch impaired drivers got rear-ended from behind by a drunken driver, police said.
Sgt. Brian Cosio was working a DWI Special Enforcement Patrol late Saturday night on South Willow Street. Cosio was stopped at a light around 12:15 a.m. when an alleged drunken driver hit his cruiser from behind.
The sergeant said the car was operating erratically prior to hitting his cruiser, but he could not get out of the way. No one was injured but both cars suffered damage.
A backup cruiser arrived and officers arrested the driver of the car Matthew Krahling, 30, of Manchester after determining he was impaired.
Krahling was charged with operating under the influence of liquor. He's scheduled to be in court Feb. 27.
