Dover Man Arrested for Striking and Bruising 9-year-old Girl, Police Say
DOVER — A Dover man was arrested Wednesday after police said he struck and bruised a 9-year-old girl he knows.
Christopher Herschlein, 34, of 12 Cranbrook Lane, Dover, was arrested without incident and charged with second-degree assault.
The complaint claims that Herschlein “knowingly caused bodily injury” by striking and bruising the girl at his residence Dec. 21.
Dover police started an investigation Dec. 22 after being informed of the child’s injuries by staff from the Division for Children Youth & Families. Staff at the child’s school called DCYF.
Herschlein was released on $2,500 personal recognizance bail on the condition that he not be around the child. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Strafford County Superior Court on Jan. 11 at 12:30 p.m.
The investigation is ongoing.
